Catch the Biggest Wave on a Surf Mat!
We’re stoked to announce the first-ever MAT MASTERS BIG WAVE COMPETITION, hosted by Turbo Surf Mat!
What is this competition about?
We want to push the sport of mat surfing. We weren't sure how so we are throwing money at the problem. The rules are simple: ride the biggest wave possible on a surf mat, get it filmed and DM us the video.
When is the Mat Masters?
The contest will run between December 20, 2025 through April 1, 2025. Video entries will be accepted during this time period.
How does the scoring work?
Each ride will be scored by three impartial judges. To calculate your score there are three categories: size for the wave, heaviness of the wave, and quality of the video
1-10 for size of the wave - 1 being a long board wave and 10 being a Eddie size wave
1-10 for heaviness of the wave - 1 being a flat wave and 10 being third reef pipe
1-5 quality of video - 1 being a Surfline rewind vs 5 being John John Florence quality shots
This scores will be added together and multiplied by 4 to get a score our of 100. The score will be averaged across the three judges.
How to Enter
1. Get Your Surf Mat Ready: Make sure your mat is ready to roll, whether you’re riding solo or with friends. We are accepting entries from anyone riding any surf mat.
2. Ride the Wave: When the big sets come in, head out with your surf mat and capture the moment on video.
3. DM us the video: Send the video @TurboMatsOfficial so we don’t miss a single entry.
4. Wait for the Results: Our panel of judges will review the biggest, baddest rides and announce the winner at the end of the season. Results will be announced on 04/05/2026
